David Weston

Owner of Invictus Gym, Dave is a well-known and respected martial artist. With over 25 years of experience and a long list of achievements, Dave is an exceptional mentor to guide you through your training. He has competed at a professional level in MMA, at an amateur level in Thai Boxing, freestyle Wrestling, has won gold medals at every belt level from white –Black belt in both Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions. 2004 saw the beginning of his journey in BJJ with UFC fighter George Sotiropoulos’ guidance. Receiving his black belt in MMA in 2011 with Jeremy Ta’Kody and Richard Norton’s guidance, and now training as a first degree AET black belt in BJJ under Head Coach Ninos Dammo. Held in high esteem from former coaches in Australia, Thailand and USA, you could not be in better hands.

Ninos Dammo

Ninos is our resident black belt affiliate coach. Being the head coach of Australian Elite Team, and the head of an affiliation network of 12 gyms with over 700 members, his reputation speaks for itself. Beginning his martial arts at a young age, Ninos earned his black belt in Karate by the time he was 18 years old. Since 2000, he has trained in BJJ under Peter De Been, in which he was awarded his brown belt, and by 2010 Gustavo Falcioli awarded his black belt. His list of achievements includes having overseen the training and grading of 5 black belts, won a handful of medals at the Pan Pacific Championships and won the Brazilian jiu-jitsu Superfights in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Connor Evans

With over 15 years of freestyle wrestling experience, Connor Evans is an exceptional mentor in the wrestling discipline. In his career, Connor has been a member of the Scottish, British and Australian national teams, he also just competed and represented Australia in the 2018 Commonwealth games. He has won the Australian Freestyle Wrestling Championships, South East Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championships and Oceania Freestyle Wrestling Championships. Connor has dedicated himself to self-improvement, and in that he shares his expert skills and knowledge with our members. Utilising Connor’s talents as our wrestling coach will help you get the most out of your training, equipping you with the necessary knowledge and skills for any situation.

Dejan Koneski

Have your fitness turned around with DJ in the Spartan Fit class. DJ is a successful athlete across many martial arts disciplines. As a competitor, he has many achievements under his belt including being a two time Arnold Classic gold medallist, Australian Champion, Pan Pacific Champion, Victorian Champion, and a two time Grappling Tournament Champion. With 3 years of cross-fit training experience and 5 years of fitness training experience, DJ could not be better to take your fitness to the next level. With enthusiasm and encouragement, DJ will consistently work you hard to reach your goals. In addition to fitness, DJ is also a brown belt in BJJ under Dave Weston, with 8 and a half years of experience.

Laura Mirenda

Laura is one of our Spartan Fit coaches that lives and breathes fitness. She has over 20 years of gym training experience, with a certificate 3 in fitness. Laura is an extremely passionate person, especially in the gym. Her motto is “train hard and do it well, keep mentally and physically strong and you can conquer anything”. Pushing members to the limit with her words of encouragement, and a smile on her face, Laura is a great motivator that will do her best to help everyone reach their goals. With a love for helping people become happy within themselves, you couldn’t be in better hands to gain strength, endurance and self-pride in our Spartan Fit classes.

Jeremy Wallert

Jeremy is a devoted member of our gym, who successfully shares his BJJ skills and knowledge with our members. Having spent the last 6 years dedicating himself to jiu-jitsu training, Jeremy is now a brown belt of which he was honoured with here at Invictus. With all his hard work and love for the sport, Jeremy is a keen and successful competitor in elite competitions. Not once, but twice, Jeremy has earnt honour and glory as the 2012 and 2014 Pan Pacific International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Championship Champion. You will have the opportunity to gain insight to the elite skills and knowledge of a prime jiu-jitsu competitor here with us at Invictus Gym.

Colby Allan

Colby is one of our dedicated Kids BJJ coaches, with a wonderful talent for interacting and teaching kids. Having spent the past 7 years involved in children’s education, and received a diploma in sporting development from SEDA, Colby is an enthusiastic mentor to young kids in their BJJ learning experience. As a blue belt himself, he has been training in BJJ for the last 3 years. Colby won a silver medal at the Victorian No-Gi Blue Belt Jiu-Jitsu Championships, an outstanding achievement. Your kids couldn’t be in better hands when it comes to their beginning in learning the skills and knowledge of the BJJ discipline.

Lachlan Johnson

Lachlan is one of our dedicated Kids BJJ coaches. At such a young age, he has already accomplished so much in his jiu-jitsu. Having received his blue belt at the age of 16, and his current purple belt at the age of 18, Lachlan is a young man full of talent to share with your children. Being young himself, he interacts well with kids and is keen to share as much knowledge and skills as he can. Lachlan has been training the jiu-jitsu art for 6 years, and to show for it he has won medals in elite competitions such as Pan Pacific International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Championship, Victorian Championship, and Grappling Industries.

Daniel O’Regan

Dan is a long-time member of Invictus Gym as both a coach and participant in classes. Having trained in BJJ and MMA for the last 10 years, he is a well-equipped mentor in guiding others through their martial arts learning experience. Dan is now a brown belt in BJJ, which he was worthily awarded here at Invictus Gym. On top of this achievement, Dan competes professionally in MMA with a current record of 4 wins to 1 loss. MMA is a fantastic sport that will equip you in any situation, and with Dan as a mentor, you have nothing to lose, only a wealth of knowledge, skills and fitness to gain. Learning MMA couldn’t be any easier with Dan’s enthusiastic and can-do attitude.

Zlatko Bucman

Zlatko is one of our no gi coaches here at Invictus. Having trained extensively in both the gi and no gi since 2012, Zlatko earned his Brown belt under Dave Weston in 2017. Zlatko has also been a keen competitor placing in multiple national and state championships, with over six years of grappling experience Zlatko is the perfect coach to bring your no gi game to the next level for grappling or MMA, in a fun and safe environment.
